The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have released the 2010 STD Treatment Guidelines. Highlights of the new Guidelines include updated treatment recommendations for gonorrhea, genital warts (Sinecatechins 15% ointment, a patient-applied topical agent made from a green tea extract), and bacterial vaginosis; expanded information on antibiotic resistant syphilis and the sexual transmission of hepatitis C; and the use of HPV vaccines as an STD prevention tool.

The guidelines were published in the December 17, 2010 issue of Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) Recommendations and Reports.
